Super Reading Activities
Here are some reading activities you can choose to do for homework. Complete these activities after your nightly reading!
Complete one Reading Activity each week. You can complete more if you choose.
1. CHARACTER: Pick a character from your story. How are you like your character? How are you different from your character? Write your answers down on paper.
2. MAKING CONNECTIONS: Retell the story to your mom or dad. Has anything like this ever happened to you?
3. SETTING: Draw a picture of where the story takes place.
4. PLOT: Write about the problem in the story. Write how you would solve the problem.
5. CHARACTER: Draw a picture of a character in the story. Write to tell who the character is and why you like this character.
6. Act out the story for your mom or dad.
7. VOCABULARY: Pick 5 words from the story that you did not know before. Write the word and the meaning of it using your own words.
8. SUMMARY: Write to tell about your story. Remember to tell about the beginning, middle and end.
9. PLOT: Write a new ending for your story.
10. AUTHOR’S CRAFT: Write about your favorite part of the story.
11. AUTHOR’S CRAFT: Write a book review of the story. Would you tell someone else to read this story? Why or why not?
12. AUTHOR’S CRAFT: Did you learn a lesson from the story? Tell mom or dad what you learned.
13. SETTING: Write to describe where the story takes place. What would you see, smell, hear or touch there?
14. SETTING: Write to tell me if you would like to visit where your story takes place. Why?
15. CHARACTER: Tell mom or dad about the main character in the story. Did you like the character? Why or why not?
